Background

The Foundation, which superceded the John van Geest Charitable Fund, was established in 1990.  The Charitable Fund had been established in 1977 when part of a holding of Geest Industries Limited Shares comprised in an existing discretionary settlement made by the late John van Geest CBE was appointed by the discretinary settlement trustees upon separate charitable trusts.

Up to 31 March 2011, grants from the Foundation, together with grants from the earlier John van Geest Charitable Fund, have totalled in excess of £26.4M.

Grants are normally made for medical research and for welfare purposes.  Preferrably, medical research gratns are made direct to the resesarch establishments working in specific fields of research as per the grant making policy

Welfare grants are made to charitable institutions operating in South Lincolnshire and immediately adjoing areas only.

Please note:  The Foundation is not accepting any further grant applications for 2012.
