 Grant Making Policy

The Charity’s funds utilised by the Trustees in making grants are normally applied for the purpose of medical research and for welfare purposes.

Grants for the purpose of medical research are directed towards research into:
Brain damage (Alzheimer’s Disease, Huntington’s Disease, Parkinson’s Disease, Strokes, etc.)
Cancer
Heart disease
Lung disease
Sight and/or hearing loss

It is the Trustees' intention that for the foreseeable future grants for medical research purposes shall be made in the main direct to a limited number of selected research establishments involved in one or another of such areas of research.  It should be noted that the Trustees already have in place a grant expenditure programme for cancer research for the years 2008 - 2012 (inclusive.)

Grants for welfare purposes are directed towards people in need through illness, infirmity or social circumstances in particular the welfare of the elderly and of children who reside in South Lincolnshire and immediately adjoining areas who:
suffer from brain damage/mental illness
suffer from cancer
suffer from heart disease
suffer from lung disease
suffer from sight and/or hearing loss
suffer from disfigurement through injury
are physically disabled
are bedridden
are terminally ill
are at risk
and occasionally towards victims of natural disasters and man made disasters.

Charities considering applying for a grant for welfare purposes are advised that the requirement as to the residence of people to benefit is rarely waived.
